Kate Dillon has over 20 years civil litigation experience dealing with civil and commercial disputes. She has particular expertise in insurance and litigation involving territorial authorities.
She has appeared in tribunals, the district court, high court and court of appeal as well as attending a large number of mediations and judicial settlement conferences by way of alternative dispute resolution.
Areas of practice
Kate Dillon has experience dealing with a wide range of civil disputes involving claims for breach of contract, negligence and nuisance claims, Fair Trading Act claims and property disputes.
Kate has experience with leaky building disputes, LIM, nuisance and negligence claims involving territorial authorities arising out of their regulatory functions such as the issuing of resource consents, building consents, code compliance certificates, issuing of LIMs and the carrying out of stormwater and other infrastructure works.
Kate has experience as in house counsel for insurance companies as well as acting for insurers and the insured. Experience includes disputes relating to indemnity, defence of liability claims and pursuing subrogated recovery matters in the district court, high court and court of appeal. She has also acted for the insured in pursuit of claims against the insurer arising out of the contract of insurance.
